Liverpool are considering signing Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise in the next summer transfer window. The Reds may view the former Crystal Palace player as a long-term successor to Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah, but they face fierce competition from Chelsea and Manchester City—both Premier League giants having missed out on signing the French attacker in the past.
Since joining the Allianz Arena last summer for a transfer fee of approximately €53 million, Olise delivered a stunning debut season, registering 20 goals and 23 assists in 55 appearances. His current market value has soared to €100 million (around £87 million), meaning only top-tier clubs can afford such a massive deal.
Liverpool have added Olise to their priority transfer target list and are willing to splurge heavily on him. As Salah gets older, the Reds are in urgent need of planning ahead, and Olise—who has tallied 4 goals and 4 assists across all competitions this season and shone particularly brightly in the Champions League match against Pafos FC—is seen as the ideal candidate. The talent, who was named in the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, is widely regarded in the industry as having the potential to win the prestigious award in the future.
Despite boasting a wealth of attacking talent in their frontline, Chelsea continue to monitor Olise’s situation. To completely block the possibility of Premier League powerhouses poaching him, Bayern Munich is actively pushing forward with contract extension negotiations. Although Olise’s current contract runs until 2029 with no release clause, his annual salary of €12 million (plus bonuses) is not yet among the top earners at the club. The Bundesliga giants plan to secure the future of this rising star by offering a significant salary hike and extending his contract until 2031.
