FC Barcelona has confirmed that, as the newly built Camp Nou is not yet ready for match use, the club will relocate its home game against Valencia in the 4th round of La Liga on Sunday, September 14th, to the Johan Cruyff Stadium, which has a capacity of 6,000 spectators. This stadium is usually used as the home ground for Barça's reserve team and women's team.
Since the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys – the club's original temporary home ground – is unavailable this weekend due to hosting a Post Malone concert, FC Barcelona has opted to temporarily relocate the match to the Johan Cruyff Stadium. La Liga has also granted a special approval to allow this stadium (with a seating capacity of less than 8,000) to host the La Liga fixture, but has required the club to install a VAR system, upgrade irrigation facilities, and ensure a reliable fiber-optic network.
The club stated that the new Camp Nou has not yet obtained the final construction certification, meaning the South Stand and the Main Stand cannot be officially put into use. Technical review and administrative approval remain the major obstacles to the new stadium's commissioning. The commissioning plan for Barça's new Camp Nou has been postponed multiple times: it was originally scheduled to host its first match in November last year, and was later pushed back to April-May 2025. This upcoming match will also mark the first time in FC Barcelona's history that the club has played an official match at a stadium with such a small capacity.
