Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team have both released official obituaries confirming the tragic passing of team forward Diogo Jota, who died in a serious car accident at the age of 28. His brother, André Silva, also lost his life in the incident.

UEFA was quick to issue a statement on social media mourning the Portuguese international and his brother: “On behalf of the entire European football community, we are profoundly saddened by the tragic deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.”
