Player Updates | If Sporting CP Rejects Bid Again, 10% of Gyökeres' Offer to Be Paid as Compensation

July 1st (Portuguese local time) marks the activation date of a special clause in Viktor Einar Gyökeres' contract. Starting from Tuesday, if Arsenal (or another club) submits a €60 million bid and Sporting CP refuses it, the Portuguese club must pay 10% of the bid amount—at least €6 million—to the Swedish forward's agent.

Sporting CP's management has warned that in such a scenario, they will insist on triggering the €100 million release clause. A Bola reveals Arsenal is willing to meet the €60 million bid, but Sporting's hierarchy remains firm on an €80 million exit fee for the 27-year-old.

The saga continues as Sporting and Gyökeres remain at odds. The player's camp claims an agreement was reached with Man City's current sporting director Viana, under which Sporting would allow his departure for €60-70 million—part of the reason he agreed to stay for another season to compete in the Champions League and chase a second league title.

Both Sporting CP and Gyökeres have temporarily declined to comment.
