Róncero conducted a joint interview with Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti. At the end of the interview, they talked about the new generation of football stars as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modrić, who are both over 40.
Róncero: “We should wrap this up soon. The top players dominating the football world today are Mbappé, Vinícius, Yamal, Bellingham… This generation is completely different from the era when you played.”
Ancelotti: “It’s hard to say who will become the new king of football. Indeed, there are very few chosen ones who can reach a higher level. Real Madrid has Mbappé, Bellingham… Yamal has also performed extremely well. Although Raphinha is recovering from injury, he proved his strength last year. Haaland also maintains an extremely high scoring efficiency at Manchester City.”
Róncero: “But no one can compare to Cristiano Ronaldo. At nearly 41, he is still playing on the pitch and is closing in on his 1000th official goal. You spent two seasons with him (2013-15) and won almost all honors. Do you think Ronaldo can reach the 1000-goal milestone?”
Ancelotti: “He will do it, for sure, without a doubt. Earlier in Italy, someone asked me about Modrić, who is 40, and I told them he can definitely continue to perform well at Milan. Both Modrić and Ronaldo are professional players who love football and are passionate about this sport. As long as they set their minds to it, they always get what they want. Ronaldo will definitely achieve the feat of 1000 goals, but when he does, don’t forget to invite me to the celebration of this amazing record… (smiling)”
