Details of the divorce proceedings between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his partner Cristina Serra are set to be finalized in the coming weeks, with an official announcement potentially coming as early as next month.
Reports suggest that Guardiola and Serra originally hoped their separation would be "amicable," but sources indicate that as their relationship has deteriorated, the situation has now become “more urgent.”
News of Guardiola’s marital troubles emerged in January this year. At the time, the pair were said to be in a "complex negotiation process," with their relationship having shifted from "amicable to polite." Now, details of their divorce proceedings are nearing finalization, and the matter could be officially announced as early as next month.
"Their relationship is no longer amicable; it has become polite. We’re not saying their relationship has become tense, but their separation has entered another phase. Setting a date to end the relationship may be more urgent," a source noted.
It is understood that Guardiola and Serra have been together for 30 years and married in 2014. Previously, Serra ran her own fashion business and did not settle in Manchester, having moved back to Spain five years ago.
A source stated that Guardiola and Serra agreed to separate in December, just weeks after Guardiola renewed his contract with Manchester City.
