There has been much discussion surrounding the loan terms of Nicolas Jackson (24). The forward, on loan from Chelsea, needs to make at least 40 starts in the Bundesliga and Champions League for Bayern Munich to fulfill the €65 million obligatory purchase clause.
“He will never be able to do that, so you don’t have to worry,” explained Honorary President Uli Hoeneß (73) on the Camel Live program. This statement may well deal a blow to the striker’s motivation.
However, another development shows Bayern’s strong confidence in the forward: the club has already entered talks with Jackson’s team over a five-year contract!
Even if Jackson fails to reach the 40-appearance mark, Germany’s record champions could still trigger the €65 million transfer clause by mid-May.
By then, all terms will have been agreed with Jackson in the contract, leaving no room for other clubs to intervene. Alternatively, Bayern could attempt to renegotiate with Chelsea to reduce the transfer fee.
Two other key players are expected to stay long-term in Munich, and Bayern has a clear plan in this regard.
Dayot Upamecano (26), whose contract is set to expire, is expected to be the next player to sign a contract extension with Bayern. While Bayern Munich is confident of reaching an agreement quickly, the French player still intends to explore offers from other clubs.
His fellow Frenchman, Michael Olise (23), had an impressive debut season (contributing 43 goal involvements in 55 matches). The French player signed with Bayern Munich last summer until 2029.
The club has already begun discussions about a long-term contract for the winger, though it has not yet made contact with Olise’s team.
