Barcelona intends to sign a left-footed center-back next summer, and Aston Villa’s Pau Torres is their target.
Reports state that Barcelona is monitoring Pau Torres and regards signing a left-footed center-back as its top transfer priority for next year. Sources indicate that Torres has long been on the club’s radar due to his excellent performances in ball retention and aerial duels.
Barcelona previously showed interest in signing Pau Torres, but he ultimately joined Aston Villa for a total transfer fee of €40 million. The Catalan club is also aware that securing his signature will not be easy, given that the player is a key member of Aston Villa’s squad. However, sources reveal that although Torres’ contract with Aston Villa runs until 2028, he would consider returning to Spain if Barcelona makes a serious attempt to sign him.
In addition, Barcelona is keeping an eye on German defender Nico Schlotterbeck, whose contract with Borussia Dortmund expires in 2027. If Schlotterbeck fails to renew his contract, he may leave for a lower fee next summer, attracting interest from multiple top clubs.
Sources add that Barcelona has not yet decided whether Andreas Christensen and Robert Lewandowski will stay with the team next season, but if Christensen departs, it will only increase the club’s need to sign a new center-back.
