Barcelona president Joan Laporta gave an interview to Camel Live, touching on topics such as his relationship with Lionel Messi.

On the Relationship with Messi

"People can understand each other through dialogue. We have considered holding the most beautiful tribute in history for him and erecting a statue outside the stadium, alongside the most important figures in the club’s history – Ladislao Kubala and Johan Cruyff. Messi marked an era; he is the greatest player of all time and the best in Barça’s history. I will not engage in untrue controversies or speculations. Everyone can have their own opinions. Messi will always be in the collective memory of Barça fans. He currently has a contract with another club, and the tribute should be held at a moment when we can truly express our gratitude. It would be wonderful if it takes place at the renovated Camp Nou, in front of 105,000 fans."

On the Messi Statue

“We have not yet finalized it. So far, we have not received word on whether they accept the statue. We have other priorities at the moment. We hope to hold the tribute ceremony when the Camp Nou is fully completed. The board discussed the possibility of naming the stadium after Messi, but we considered it inappropriate. The stadium will continue to be called Spotify Camp Nou, as it belongs to FC Barcelona.”
