Los Angeles Football Club is in advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer fee for Son Heung-min, with the expected fee set at around $20 million (£15 million).
Tottenham hopes to sell Son Heung-min for $26 million (£20 million), though this is a reduction from their initial asking price of around $40 million (£30 million) to Saudi clubs.
Personal terms for the Tottenham captain are close to being agreed, with the 33-year-old having informed Los Angeles Football Club of his desire to join.
Los Angeles Football Club has sent a delegation to South Korea, and Son Heung-min is expected to play his final match for Tottenham against Newcastle United on August 3rd. Under a commercial agreement, Son is obligated to participate in this match.
Sources say the deal is likely to be finalized quickly after August 3rd.
Son Heung-min has also received offers from Saudi Arabia, but after being made available for sale, he has prioritized Los Angeles Football Club. It is understood that the thriving Korean community in Los Angeles is also a factor in his transfer considerations.
Son Heung-min is set to become one of the highest-paid players in MLS and could surpass the current third-highest earner Sergio Busquets' annual salary of $8.7 million.
