After Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Mohamed Salah made shocking remarks in the mixed zone.

Arne Slot's future hangs in the balance, but he believes he can still turn around Liverpool's fortunes at Anfield.

When asked about his relationship with the club's hierarchy last week, he said: "Yes, but they don't say 'we support you', 'we support you', 'we support you' every minute of the day.

We communicate regularly. They engage with me both during the wins and losses from last season. They help me and they help the team.

So yes, we do have these conversations, but they don't call me every minute to tell me they still trust me.

We do have regular communication, and in those conversations, I feel their trust. I haven't spoken to them since the game, so let's wait and see!"

Amid Liverpool's poor form, speculation over Slot's successor has intensified.

If Arne Slot is sacked, Steven Gerrard is being considered to take over as interim manager.

Gerrard previously revealed he came "very close" to returning to manage Rangers, but turned down the role after negotiations following Russell Martin's departure.

The 45-year-old manager led Rangers from 2018 to 2021, guiding the club to the 2020-21 Scottish Premiership title. He has also managed Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq since then.

It is understood that Liverpool are also interested in Julian Nagelsmann. The German coach will lead his team at next summer's World Cup and could become a free agent after the tournament.

Mohamed Salah's relationship with Liverpool manager Arne Slot has deteriorated, with Salah revealing their bond has broken down.
