The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and played a crucial role in Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in their first-ever Champions League title this season. However, the Italian’s status as PSG’s starting goalkeeper is set to be complicated by the upcoming arrival of Lille goalkeeper Chevalier.
Donnarumma hopes to stay at PSG and fight for his place, and has not ruled out negotiating a new contract extension with the club. Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain prefers to sell the Italian international and has been unwilling to improve Donnarumma’s salary terms.
PSG values Donnarumma at more than £30 million. This transfer fee figure is based on the £25 million AC Milan demanded from Chelsea when the Blues inquired about Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan earlier this summer.
Both goalkeepers have 12 months left on their current contracts, but Donnarumma is only 26 years old.
Reports of Donnarumma having contact with Manchester United or Galatasaray remain unsubstantiated. The Italian has yet to receive any meaningful offers, but this situation could change in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Donnarumma earns a weekly wage of £210,000 and will only leave PSG this summer if approached by clubs he considers elite. His top priority is to continue playing in the Champions League and remain in one of the world’s biggest leagues.
