2010: Netherlands End Brazil’s World Cup Dominance

Twelve years ago, the Netherlands orchestrated a stunning comeback against Brazil in the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals. Trailing 1-0 after Robinho’s early strike, the Dutch turned the tide with Arjen Robben’s incisive runs and Wesley Sneijder’s clinical finishing. Sneijder equalized with a header (68th minute) before converting a rebound from Robben’s blocked shot (73rd minute) to secure a 2-1 victory . This win ended Brazil’s 36-year unbeaten run against European opponents at the World Cup and marked the Netherlands’ first knockout-stage triumph over a South American giant since 1974.
