Manchester United are closely monitoring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham, considering a January move. The younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, Jobe was a key contributor to Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League last season. He joined Dortmund for £25 million this summer with high expectations.
However, unlike his brother’s rapid rise at Signal Iduna Park, the 19-year-old has only made two league starts, with 11 appearances yielding no goals or assists, failing to adapt to the Bundesliga pace. Worse, off-field issues: tensions between Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc and Jobe’s father Mark have grown. Mark clashed with club officials after his son was substituted at halftime in the season opener, drawing criticism from England legend Geoff Hurst, who called his behavior “unbecoming.”
Though Jobe signed a contract until 2030 with Dortmund months ago, the soon-to-be 20-year-old may leave early, potentially returning to England.
United are tracking developments, eyeing a January loan. While unsure if the player wants to move, manager Ruben Amorim is eager to strengthen the midfield, also scouting alternatives like Atlético Madrid’s Gallagher, whose playing time under Diego Simeone has dwindled as he seeks regular minutes to fight for a World Cup spot.
Amorim highly rates Jobe and is likely to push for a deal, but reports suggest United could face competition from Crystal Palace if Jobe decides to leave.
