Even with just a glimmer of hope, Roma insists on pursuing Jadon Sancho, and this stems from the explicit request of head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who has also been putting pressure on the club's management. As a result, Roma is sparing no effort to try to persuade the English winger.
However, convincing Sancho is far from easy, for the following reasons: First, regarding the player's own willingness, although he initially expressed an open attitude, Sancho has never truly accepted Roma's pursuit. Second, there are financial challenges: Sancho is demanding an annual salary of approximately €7.5 million after tax, while his agent is seeking a high commission of over €10 million.
Initially, after Roma director Mauro Mazzara reached an agreement with Manchester United, he turned to other options due to the realization that the deal would be highly difficult, and even set a final response deadline for Sancho. But Gasperini was unwilling to give up on Sancho; he communicated with Roma's owner and received a promise that Roma would pursue Sancho until the very end.
Currently, Roma's owner, the Friedkin family, has authorized the sports director to continue negotiations, with the goal of persuading Sancho to agree to join Roma and narrowing the gap in financial terms. Manchester United is also making efforts to push the player and his team to ensure the smooth completion of the transfer.
Roma's exploitable advantage lies in the fact that Sancho has not received any other substantive offers at present. Therefore, despite the numerous difficulties, Roma has no intention of giving up and still hopes to meet Gasperini's request.
