Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are planning to submit a formal offer of up to €80 million to Manchester City for winger Savinho, aiming to push forward this blockbuster transfer before the closure of the summer transfer window.
This is not the first time Tottenham have pursued the Brazilian youngster. Their previous offer for Savinho was rejected by Manchester City, but the club has not given up. Especially after missing out on another key target—having Crystal Palace’s Eze poached by city rivals Arsenal—Tottenham’s management has clearly stated that they will go all out to turn their focus to securing Savinho, regarding him as the top priority to strengthen their wing attack.
Tottenham hope to complete this signing at all costs before the transfer window closes. Currently, Savinho’s agent team is active in London, holding multiple rounds of negotiations with relevant parties. However, Manchester City has remained conservative about letting him leave, as Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff still regard Savinho as an important member of their team plans, making the progress of the deal face considerable difficulties.
Although Tottenham have shown strong desire to sign him and prepared a club-record high offer, with Manchester City unwilling to easily relent, whether Savinho will eventually make the move remains highly uncertain.
From a negotiating perspective, Manchester City holds almost all the initiative. Savinho only joined last summer and has four years left on his contract; while his market value has increased, there is still room for further growth. Despite Guardiola’s high praise for his potential, his statistics in his first Premier League season were not eye-catching, leaving significant room for improvement. If he develops as expected by the head coach, even a transfer fee of £60 million or £70 million could prove to be a great value deal for Tottenham.
