The Reds have not yet met Crystal Palace's asking price for Marc Guehi, and the latter is eyeing Jeremy Jacquett as a potential replacement in case Guehi leaves.
If Guehi joins Liverpool, Crystal Palace is considering signing talented centre-back Jeremy Jacquett from Rennes. However, Guehi's transfer remains highly uncertain at this stage.
Given that Guehi's contract with Crystal Palace expires next year, the club has been willing to sell him this summer amid failed renewal talks. However, there is currently a £10 million valuation gap between the two parties.
While Liverpool's hierarchy insists the club’s maximum offer for the England international is £35 million, Crystal Palace is holding firm at £45 million.
Notably, despite being plagued by transfer rumours, both Eberechi Eze and Guehi started for Crystal Palace in their Premier League draw against Chelsea last Sunday. Manager Oliver Glasner also insisted that they remain fully committed to the club.
In a post-match interview with the media, Glasner said: “There has been a lot of talk about Eze and Guehi over the past week. Everyone could see their performances against Liverpool and today’s game – they are fully integrated into the team and into Crystal Palace.”
"As long as they are fully committed, they will play at their level because they are really good players. I have watched them in training all week and spoken to them almost every day – maybe more than I speak to my kids or my wife – but it’s worth it. They have shown not only that they are good footballers but also good people, which is exactly what I expect."
