Recently, in an interview with camel.live, Portuguese football legend Luís Figo shared his views on the current transfer market, Real Madrid’s goals for the new season, and the new La Liga signings he admires.
When asked about which club he would choose if he could return to his playing career, Figo said: “If you ask me to pick a team other than Barcelona and Real Madrid, I would probably lean towards Atlético Madrid. Their style of play, stadium atmosphere, and the passion of their fans are incredibly appealing. Even though we were always rivals when facing Atlético Madrid, playing there always made you feel excited.”
“Of course, it would also be special to play a derby in Seville. I won’t specifically say whether it’s Betis or Sevilla—otherwise the fans of the other side would ‘kill’ me—but playing in such an intense atmosphere must be wonderful.”
When talking about Real Madrid and the team’s goals for the new season, Figo offered his assessment: “After last season, Real Madrid will definitely strengthen their squad depth through signings and further improve their strength in positions that need strengthening. We also have to see how much impact Luka Modrić’s departure will have on the team. After all, he has played a vital role in the team over the past few years.”
Regarding Real Madrid’s goals for the new season, Figo stated: “Real Madrid’s goal is certainly to overtake Barcelona, reclaim the La Liga title, and win trophies in other competitions. I don’t think the team lacked motivation last season. You have to remember that when you play for Real Madrid, you must be clear about your goal—that is to strive to win everything.”
When discussing the new signings joining La Liga this season, Figo did not hide his admiration for two players: “I really like Arnold and Rashford.”
Finally, when asked who would be the best player in La Liga this season, Figo opined: “Players who possess greater technical ability and can maintain consistent performance throughout the season are more likely to become the best player. For example, Raphinha, Vinícius, Mbappé, and Álvarez—they all have strong individual abilities, and I am looking forward to their excellent performances in the new season.”
