In UEFA Champions League Group Stage Round 6, Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Manchester City at home. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard commented on the match during a program, stating that Antonio Rudiger’s behavior was foolish.

Analyzing Manchester City’s first goal, Gerrard said: “Real Madrid’s overall performance was very poor. Bellingham lost the aerial duel, the goalkeeper (Courtois) made a weak save, but Carreras… You can’t allow opponents to have such space in the penalty area.”

“Carreras was looking around – I don’t know what he was searching for, because his opponent had two or three yards of space to shoot easily. You can’t lose concentration like that, only focus on the ball, and let any Man City player score freely.”

Talking about Rudiger conceding the penalty, Gerrard said: “Rudiger’s behavior was foolish. Alonso is facing a huge problem because Man City won the game without giving their all. They proved in the last ten minutes of the first half that they couldn’t defend.”

“We have praised Rudiger many times because he is an excellent man-marker who likes to disrupt forwards through physical confrontation. But in the penalty area, especially with VAR, this kind of behavior is foolish. It was an obvious penalty.”

“I am indeed disappointed with Real Madrid’s performance. They lost the crucial moments of the game, such as the penalty caused by Rudiger’s foolish foul. Man City fully deserved this victory.”
